100% worth the wait. Assembly was surprisingly easy to do just by myself in my own home, and the finished bicycle is a genuinely impressive specimen, perfect for using on a daily basis for all manner of tasks.
I am very much satisfied with my purchase, and expect many happy years of use.

Purchased this men’s Carolina last year. All I can say is was worth the wait during covid shipping time. I love the bike, it’s so smooth. Upgrade the breaks to rockers and definitely buy the 7 gear package.
Thank you Amsterdam bike company!!!!

I purchased this bicycle because I was looking for a bike that accomplished two things, act as a sort of “car replacement” to allow me to commute and run errands using a bicycle instead of a car, as well as support my 330 pound weight without breaking the bicycle. After using it for over a half dozen trips to work (about 14-15 miles one way) and about 150-200 miles in total I can definitely say that this bicycle accomplishes those tasks and then some. When I ordered this bicycle, it was not originally available on the website, I contacted the company via e-mail and they were able to customize a bicycle for me to suit my needs. This is probably the best customer service experience that I have had with any company.
This bicycle comes with a number of features that makes it an amazing bicycle for commuting and other day-to-day tasks. Probably the most remarkable compared to what is usually offered in the US is the fact that it comes with lighting powered by a dynamo hub, with the option for a rear light, which I strongly recommend. Previously I only had access to battery-powered lights, which posed an issue for commuting as if the battery died, you could be left without adequate lighting for miles, a dangerous prospect. Many of my commutes begin before dawn and with the provided light, I can still see the road ahead quite easily for about 40 feet even on pitch black roads. One thing to note is that the front light is only on when the bicycle is in motion, so I’d suggest a backup light for intersections.
Other features like the fenders and provided coat guards are especially useful, as it’s nice not to spend my morning soaked when riding through a puddle caused by rain or an overzealous sprinkler. Also nice is the attached ring lock, which locks the rear wheel to the frame when not in use. While I wouldn’t recommend it alone security, it’s quite useful for quick stops and also allows you to only need to secure the frame and front wheel in high threat areas. It also holds your keys while you are moving, which is nice since keys tend to either be left in pockets where they stab you in the leg or placed in a bag, where they always sink to the bottom. It also has great carrying capacity, more so with the front rack.
Most of the other bikes on this site have the features mentioned above, what makes this bike unique is the ability to haul a lot of weight, whether its rider, as in my case, or gear in others. This bike is able to easily carry my 330 lb frame with ease. The wheels are extra strong, made of stainless steel instead of aluminum and have extremely strong spokes. I don’t notice any sagging on either of the wheels, nor do I notice any creaking of the crankshaft which I have on less durable bicycles. Even though this bicycle is heavy-duty it isn’t particularly slow. While I wouldn’t race it in the Tour de France, it handles 10-15 MPH with relative ease. I can’t speak to the ability to handle hills since I live in a very flat area, but it handles bridges just fine. One point to consider, however, this bicycle weighs over 60 lbs, which is too heavy for most entry-level car racks and I wouldn’t dream of trying to put it on a roof rack, so that could be a consideration if you want to ferry the bicycle around. Probably the best way to transport the bike is to ride it. There are racks made that can hold this bicycle and it fits just fine in the flat bed of a truck, however.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. This bike makes for a great “urban tank” that is quite stylish, it actually blends in well with the “beach cruisers” in my area. I highly recommend the blue color as well.
